Week 9: # 23 The End or is it?

Well, this is the end of the learning 2.o experience, or not, because of course we can continue exploring these web spaces and discovering new ones. My favorite exercise would have been the YouTube and Metacafe experiences there is so much talent out there I was impressed with Koo's (a fellow blogger) finding of the "Captain Jack Sparrow bringing Sexy Back" video but it is important to be selective which goes for any learning experience.
If the opportunity came to do another exercise of this magnitude I would certainly be interested in participating.

This unfortunately was a bit of a non event as YPRL is a member of Netlibrary but only for ebooks so unable to download on to my MP3 player. But I'm sure it would have been just as interesting as the other activities.

007 - You Only Live Twice (1967) -theme

Well, I think Youtube has been the most addictive of all the tools I've explored so far. There are just so many things that you can view, although it's important to be selective as there is alot of dross out there. This must be my most favourite James Bond theme and here it was on Youtube, amazing!!

Well this was what I found when playing around with Metacafe, a similar site to Youtube. As with a lot of these tools they take up alot of time, what with downloading, searching etc. I suppose eventually it will get faster as for application within the library, unsure, maybe to include in a presentation or talk? But this was quite amusing watching these over the top reactions of children on christmas morning.

Well this was my attempt on Zoho writer, changed it to a HTML document and then pasted it to here.
Interesting and relatively easy to use.

Well, that' done it, I've added my blog to the favourites under Australian sites of PLCMC's learning 2.0 SandBox wiki. Relatively painless. Now onto week 8.

Week 7: # 16 Wikis

The book lovers wiki by Princetown Public Library is an intersting application of wikis for a public library and I can see that working quite well here in Australia, as we all like to give our 2 bobs worth opinion about things, not that I particularly agreed with some of the reviews listed.
But I don't particularly like them as a source of accurate information, as the input is likely to be too subjective.

Week 6: #15 Web 2.0, Library 2.0 What does it all Mean?

Well there are some thought provoking articles to read. I think I like best what Rick Andrews and Dr Wendy Schultz both had to say. Its probably the closest as to what I believe will happen in the future of Libraries. Certainly our collection is being looked at very carefully and with so many reference books being available online (or at least the info. they are refering to) it makes the physical presence of such books obsolete and the best use of diverting resources to other parts of the collection that are more heavily used. I certainly approve of Dr Schultz's ending comments of comfortable chairs, quiet, good light, coffee and single malt being available, check it out.

Week 6: #14 Exploring Technorati

Technorati has just had it's 3rd birthday, my how time flies.When keying in learning 2.0 into the blog post search I came up with 34,829 results, when searching in tags, it came up with 103 posts and in blog dictionary 31 blogs about learning 2.0 with Helene Blowers blog being the first entry. So is the lesson here to search only under blog dictionary? as its eliminates alot of the fluff, who wants to search through 34,829 results! Technorati.

Week 5: Library Thing

Well this is an interesting site, a visually appealing and very user friendly way of cataloging and rating your book collection. Library Thing is a site that I would recommend to anyone who has the time and desire to record their collection, for me, this will just have to wait till I retire, in about 30 years time!

Week 5/ Image generators

Image generators are an interesting tool, but you have to have the right photo to fool around with for it to work well. The following is a link to flickr tools where I was able to do an Andy Warhol type picture of Madonna. Thanks to jbits
for the tip of adding links to my blog it certainly makes things alot more interesting. Now on to number 11.

Week 4: RSS feeds & newsreaders

Well this lessons been quite fun, I got a bit carried away with adding feeds and added about 12 but what the heck, lets hope I'll remember the process more easily.
As to whether they are useful library related sites well Harry Potter and James Bond are "literary characters".

WEEK 3 Success in creating a flickr badge. YEAH!!

Well, I've amazed myself. I have finally negotiated my way around Flickr and created a badge that I was then able to copy and paste on to my Blog. Earlier I was disappointed as I hade made this wonderful kaleidoscope of a photo but was then unable to save it, that site was more about having fun with the kaleidoscope option then anything else I think. While it's quite interesting to look at other people's photo's and what they've done on Flickr I don't think I'll be using this option to post any of my photo's.

I thought that by pressing continue, that it would come up with more template examples, instead it gave me this YUK! Now I just have to work out how to change it.
